PRESSURE VESSELS PERIODIC INSPECTION

PRESSURE VESSELS PERIODIC INSPECTION
Pressurized containers are defined in the literature as containers with a pressure of 0,5 bar and above. Because these equipments have the potential to destroy and cause harm on the people and equipment around, they should be regularly controlled and undergo regular maintenance and test transactions.

As examples of the equipment, steam boiler, heating boiler, hot water and oil boilers, hydrophores, industrial gas storage tanks, bulk trailers, cloth painting tanks etc. can be listed.

ANNEX-III Issues Related to Maintenance, Repair and Periodic Controls

2. Work Equipment Subject to Periodic Control
2.1. Pressurized Container and Installations

Hydrostatic test is a fundamental principle in pressurized containers. The tests are held in periods not exceeding a year with 1.5 fold the operating pressure unless specified otherwise. However, in pressurized containers without the possibility of hydrostatic tests due to imperative conditions due to the characteristics of the equipment and to the enterprise, non destructive test methods can also be applied instead of hydrostatic test.

In such case, the issue shall be also specified with reasons in the periodic control reports to be issued.

Periodic controls of pressurized container and installations are made by mechanical engineers, and mechanical technicians or senior technicians.

In case the periodic controls in question are held via nondestructive examination methods, such controls can be made only by engineers trained to EN ISO 9712 standard, and technicians or senior technicians with the same training.

Field and Type of Test:
• Steam boiler tests
• Hot oil boiler tests
• Hot water boiler tests
• Heating boiler Tests

All pressurized containers should be tested after installation, before activation and in case of any change or revision in the tanks or boilers. Furthermore, periodic test should be made at least once a year.

The control and experiments of the steam boilers, hot oil boilers, autoclaves and hot water boilers after three months of out of time period before reuse.
•
• Compressor and air tank tests
• Pressurized containers, paint boilers, boilers, sand filter tank Hydrophore, expansion tank (Balance Tank)  tests
• Autoclave tests
• Industrial gases storage tank tests (LPG, LNG, Nitrogen tank)
• Land tanker test
• Tests of the storage tanks of flashing, explosive, dangerous and harmful substances (oxygen tank, hydrogen tank, diesel oil tank)

The periodic control and tests of industrial gas storage tanks, land tankers, storage tanks for flashing, explosive, dangerous and harmful substances should be made after manufacture and before installation and use, or after modifications and major repairs, in case of reuse after an out of service period of at least three months, before starting use again and in each case every ten years periodically. Safety valves should be checked at least once every five years.
